On Friday I went along to a podcasting workshop. It's part of a Learnscope project running between West Coast TAFE and Challenger TAFE - another incidental, i'm the Manager of Educational Technology at West Coast TAFE.
A group of 14 of us got together to create and upload podcasts. Skills varied from total beginner to relatively accomplished - This got me thinking about how often that happens - whatever DID happen to Intermediate.... I suppose it could be the difference in the way and amount of skills we learn these days - you're never finished, which means you can never be half way there.. ergo Intermediate.
This I suppose is the beauty of the new options open to us through podcasting and social networking - It's easy...
You begin....and then you just carry on - to become a juggler of widgets, gadgets and unbelievable tools to transform you work and homelife.
So, one serendipitous effect was the discovery of the death of the Intermediate..
So, what else did I discover - that Audacity and PC land is nowhere near as scary as I had thought it would be after the warm reassurance of Macland. Uploading audio is significantly more complex with Audacity. i mean it's ok if you're used to fiddling around with images audio, uploads and file formats. If you're not, well the chatter around me suggested on Friday that it was a multi-step fairly intimidating process.
The other thing I discovered as I dealt with yet another WebCT issue - is that help is only as good as the question you ask..
And now to matters of sustenance and cocooning myself from the wild and windy elements.
